Coronavirus: Measures to relax in north from Monday

Measures will be eased in the north on Monday, with bars and restaurants able to open for takeaway and delivery although the curfew from 9pm to 5am will remain in place for a further week.

While open, clothing shops will to be able to allow anyone to try on clothes.

On Saturday only shops selling food, fuel and open air markets will be allowed to operate, while on Sunday only bakeries, pharmacies and petrol stations.

Schools will remain online except for nurseries, which can open if they wish.

Movement from Nicosia or Kyrenia, where there are a higher number of cases, to other areas is only allowed with special permission from the ‘district authority’.

Hairdressers and barbers will be allowed to reopen on Thursday. All those going back to work must have a negative test by Wednesday and continue to take a PCR test every two weeks.

Turkish Cypriots working in the Republic will be allowed to travel to their jobs with a PCR test that is not older than 72 hours.

Funerals are allowed but only in the presence of first degree relatives, no memorials or other religious services are allowed.

Shopping is only allowed in nearby areas.
