Limassol police arrested a 23-year-old on Tuesday on suspicion of stealing a watch worth €120,000 from a gym locker at a hotel in the town’s centre.

Police said the theft had been reported by the owner, a 35-year-old businessman, along with €1,650 in cash.

The man said he had placed the watch and the cash in the locker, but they were gone when he returned.

After checking the footage from security cameras, police were led to a 23-year-old hotel guest who was arrested.

Police said the watch was found in the suspect’s possession while the investigation continued in a bid to find the missing cash.
