Coronavirus: Police investigate as video shows people dancing at Limassol venue

Police launched an investigation on Sunday after a video posted on social media showed people inside a Limassol taverna dancing.

The video posted on Instagram shows several people dancing, in violation of the latest decrees which allow restaurants to open only outside and there to be no dancing or mixing of people on different tables.

The police have tracked down the establishment and the owner said he appealed to the people involved not to dance and when they would not abide by the rules asked them to leave.

One woman seen dancing in the video has reportedly been fined 300 euro, while a member of staff is believed to have also been charged for not properly wearing a mask.

The owner of the establishment and the person in charge at the time are also being investigated for running a restaurant without a licence and selling alcohol without a licence. The owner is expected to be taken to court.

Investigations are continuing to find the people who were dancing.
