Defence Minister takes part in teleconference on “Task Force Takuba” in Mali

Cyprus Defence Minister Charalambos Petrides participated in a Ministerial virtual conference on the “Task Force Takuba” operating in Mali.

A press release issued by the Defence Ministry noted that Petrides took part in the virtual conference at the invitation of his French counterpart Florence Parly.

The Republic of Cyprus supports the aims of the task force, which in liaison with other EU and UN missions aims to uphold peace and security in Mali, the Ministry said.

The virtual meeting, attended by Defence Ministers of other EU member-states, Norway, Serbia and Ukraine as well as by officials from Mali, Niger, focused on the conclusions from the operation of the task force in Mali so far.
