Coronavirus: one death, 75 new cases announced on Sunday (Updated)

The health ministry announced one death and 75 more people tested positive for Covid-19 on Sunday from 60,508  PCR and rapid tests, a positivity rate of  0.12 per cent.

The death concerned a 91-year-old man. He may or may not have had underlying conditions or he may or may not have been vaccinated. The information is no longer made public.

There are 115 cases in hospitals of whom 42 are in serious condition. Of these, 26 are intubated,

Of the 60,508 tests done on Sunday,  5,146 were PCR and 55,362 antigen rapid tests, yielding only 75 positives as follows: 

  • 13 from 223 samples taken through contact tracing 
  • 6 from 3,845 samples taken at airports 
  • 10 from 565 samples taken through private initiative.
  • 1 from 176 samples taken in Kato Pyrgos Tyllirias.
  • 45 from the 55,127 rapid tests taken by the health ministry.

Nicosia saw 19 positives, Limassol 18, Larnaca 5, Famagusta 3 and Paphos none.
