Coronavirus: ‘Neutral’ masks only at polling stations

002

Voters must wear a mask when they vote in Sunday’s parliamentary elections, but this mask cannot indicate their preferred political party, Chief Election Officer Costas Constantinou said on Tuesday clarifying aspects of the health protocol to be implemented in polling stations.

Voters wearing a protective mask bearing the name or logo of a political party or the candidate, or any other element indicating the voter’s preference for a particular coalition or candidate, “will not be accepted at the polling station” the announcement said.

Workers at the polling stations as well as the representatives of the candidates and media employees must also wear a face covering and abide by additional restrictions.

They staff must present a negative coronavirus test carried out the previous day, or completed their vaccination at least seven days prior, or present proof they have tested positive and recovered from the virus in the last six months.
