Man arrested for overstaying visa

File photo: Paphos Airport

A 29-year-old is being held for illegally staying in the Republic, police said on Friday.

According to police, the man, an Indian national, was arrested on Thursday at Paphos airport after immigration determined he had overstayed his permit.

Further checks showed the suspect had been living in Cyprus as a dependent of an EU citizen, but his permit had expired in November 2020, after which he illegally remained in the country.

The suspect was arrested and is being held at Polis Chrysochous police station, where he will remain while immigration processes detention and deportation orders.
