Suspect had fake euro notes sent by mail from Turkey

Police on Wednesday seized around 200 counterfeit euro notes and arrested a 33-year-old man who allegedly had them sent by mail from Turkey.

The suspect was arrested after appearing at the district post office in Limassol as the recipient of the package, but his demeanour made customs officers suspicious. The officers opened the package and found 96 €100 notes and 98 €50 notes, which were counterfeit.

Customs notified Limassol CID whose officers collected the notes and took the suspect for questioning. He was arrested later.
