How to feed and care for goats on an urban farm

Every pet deserves a loving and respectful home: please only consider acquiring a pet if you will be able to take care of its long-term needs. Also, consider choosing your animal companion from a shelter, where there are so many wonderful furry friends who need a forever home.

In this video, we take a closer look at how goats on a one-acre Phoenix, Arizona farm get the care they need to thrive.

Essentially, the mother goats raise their kids until they reach 10 weeks of age and are naturally weaned from nursing. The small herd depicted includes seven milking goats of the Nigerian Dwarf and Nubian breeds. Their fresh milk is used to make cheese, butter, cream, and features in the farmers’ baking and cooking.
