Six businesses and 46 individuals were reported after 3,089 checks in the last 24 hours for coronavirus measures violations, police said on Tuesday.

The fines concerned two businesses in Nicosia, two in Limassol and two in Larnaca.

According to the police, in two cases officers found customers without a SafePass in the establishments, while in other cases police said the manager or the staff were found without a SafePass.

They were fined a total of €2,500, police’s announcement said.

Meanwhile, the main reason police reported individuals was the failure to wear a face mask.

Due to the continuous increase of positive cases, police checks have been intensified especially in the places where a large number of people gather and in places where the possession of SafePass is mandatory, the announcement added.

The SafePass is required for people to visit the indoor and outdoor places of shopping malls, cafeterias, restaurants, and gyms among others.
