Drug suspect admitted to three burglaries, police said

Paphos police arrested a theft suspect on Monday for cannabis possession and driving under the influence of drugs before he admitted to three burglaries, they said.

The 32-year-old man was found driving at around 2.30pm in the district, when officers signalled him to stop.

According to police, the man attempted to escape while an officer off-duty helped in his arrest.

A plastic bag containing one gramme of cannabis was found in his possession and the suspect tested positive in a narcotest.

In his vehicle, police found several items of jewellery and alcoholic drinks.

In his statement, the 32-year-old admitted to three burglaries that took place last April in Paphos, police said.

One case included breaking and entering a Chlorakas apartment on July 9 to 10, from where he stole jewellery and other items worth around €2,500.

Moreover, he admitted that on July 6 to 7 he stole €600 worth of food and drink from a seaside restaurant in Chlorakas.

The man is also a suspect into the burglary of a Lemba apartment form where he stole a laptop, a watch and an empty safe box worth €550 in the beginning of April.

Paphos drug squad, CID and traffic police continue the investigations.
