Coronavirus: Health ministry announces Facebook page to answer questions

The health ministry on Tuesday announced the launch of a Facebook page where people can submit questions to a scientific team regarding the pandemic and the coronavirus vaccines.

The page under the name Let’s talk about it…It’s simple, was created after an initiative by the patients’ association (Osak).

It aims to provide correct, comprehensive and scientifically substantiated information of residents with the intention of calming the concerns of people, the written statement by the health ministry said.

Questions can be submitted through the page, and the responses of the scientists will be uploaded online.

The group of scientists behind the page includes infectious disease specialists, general practitioners, paediatrists, pharmacists, sociologists and other scientists of relevant specialities.

The social media page was created as part of the ministry’s information campaign during which audio-visual material was also created and distributed to various media. The ministry said it also organises public discussions with scientists and doctors in local communities.

“The effort is common,” the ministry said and urged people to express their concerns as to be “informed correctly and validly, to protect the health of ourselves, our loved ones, our society”.

So far, material on the page is available in Greek.
