Summer nights in the city

01 (1)

Beach or mountains, travelling abroad or not, the city is another great place to be in the summer. Perhaps that sounds ludicrous to some yet with events and festivals returning and the crowds rushing off to the coast, those that remain inland get to see the city in a new light. Here to amplify the evenings of Nicosia is Summer Nights 2021 organised by the Nicosia Municipality in various locations around town.

Nights filled with music, dance, theatre and art are coming to the capital city throughout July, August and September in outdoor venues. Specifically, several events are taking place at Phaneromenis Square, the new outdoor theatre of Eleftheria Square, the Municipal Gardens, Ayia Barbara Square and the yard of Ayioi Omologites Church.

“Apart from the acquaintance with other cultures,” says the municipality, “audiences have the opportunity to meet new Cypriot creators.

This week, on Thursday a dance and music performance is set to take place at Pallouriotissa Square with a quintet presenting a show called From Rembetiko to Folk. August will open with a well-known play on Monday 2, Waiting for Godot, originally by Samuel Beckett, presented at Nicosia’s Municipal Park by Theatro Antilogos. Many more events are on the agenda, revealed slowly week by week but all free to attend and certain to entertain.
