Man fined 42,000 euros after contraband cigarettes found in car

A man aged 65 was arrested on Saturday night after Nicosia police found 699 boxes of cigarettes in his car during a police check.

They also said they found five packs of pills of various types.

The 65-year-old was arrested and taken to a police station, where customs officers arrived and confiscated the contraband.

The man was given a 42,000-euro fine and released.
