A 38-year-old employee is wanted on suspicion of stealing €7,500 from the cafe-restaurant chain he was working at, police said on Thursday.

The incident was reported to the police by the 30-year-old manager of a cafe chain, Cyprus News Agency reported.

According to the manager’s statement, the suspect was in charge of depositing the takings of the cafe in Kato Paphos and a second cafe of the same chain at the district’s shopping mall. The complainant said the man left work with €7,500 in cash but never deposited the amount in the bank.

He said he has been looking for his employee, but his phone has been turned off.

Paphos police have issued an arrest warrant against the 38-year-old, the news agency said.
