Music and theatre around Nicosia

summer nights

The Summer Nights 2021 series of events has been providing weekly theatre, music and art performances in the capital for yet another summer thanks to the Nicosia municipality. And we all know the Cypriot summer doesn’t end actually in August, so the series of events will continue throughout September as well. The month’s first performance is a live music gig by band Beats n’ Pieces on Thursday.

Arriving at the Eleftheria Square Amphitheatre, the musicians of the band will bring their signature sounds of afro, bolero and Latin-Brazilian jazz starting at 8.30pm. Eleonora Roussou on vocals and flute, Alexis Kasinos on guitar, Andreas Rodosthenous on base and Rodos Panagiotou on the drums will take audiences on a trip across Argentina, Spain, Italy, Greece, England, France and Brazil in swing and bossa nova rhythms.

The following week has two events, both planned for Monday, September 6 though entirely different. The Nicosia Municipal Park will host an outdoor exhibition opening at 7pm, titled Greek Heroes-Heroines. It hosts the paintings of a very young artist. Paris Andreou Hadjipavlou is just seven years old yet is fully ready to display his art. Also at the Park at 7pm is the theatrical performance Clown Family, suitable for children and adults. It’s a humorous sketch performed by Natalia Panagiotou and Mohammed Awwad in a made-up language making it easy for all to follow.
