Two arrested for drug possession

Nicosia drug squad arrested two men late on Tuesday in connection with two separate cases of illegal drug possession.

The first man, 27, was stopped by members of the drug squad while driving in a specific area in Nicosia.

He was arrested after officers found about 207 grammes of cocaine in his possession. During a search in his car police also found more than €5,900 in cash, as well as some shisha tobacco.

An older man, aged 42, was also arrested after officers discovered drugs and a large amount in cash in the property and house of the suspect during a search.

The man handed over a small quantity of cannabis to the officers who came to search a building owned by the man. However, police also found €3,500 in cash in his possession.

Following a search in his house, police confiscated 125 grammes of cocaine.
