Coronavirus: One death and 146 new cases recorded on Tuesday (updated)

One death and 146 new Covid-19 cases were announced on Tuesday by the health ministry out of 53,610 PCR and rapid tests, a positivity rate of 0.27 per cent.

The death concerns a 75-year-old man. This brings the number of deaths due to Covid-19 to 556, of which 353 were men and 203 women.

Meanwhile, there are 61 patients with Covid-19 in hospital, 25 of whom are in serious condition, including 13 who are intubated.

Seven of the new cases concern passengers at Larnaca and Paphos airports.

Another 23 were found positive during contact tracing, 38 are people who got PCR tests privately, 48 are people who got rapid tests privately, five were referrals for testing by doctors and five were among samples processed in state hospitals’ labs.

The remaining 20 were among the rapid tests carried out in all districts on behalf of the health ministry. Two of these were primary education pupils from Larnaca, and six high school pupils: two in Paphos, one in Larnaca and three in Limassol. The rest concern three cases in Nicosia out of 1,953 tests, four in Limassol (764), three in Larnaca (605), and two in Paphos (352).

So far 120,761 cases have been recorded.
