A minute with Elena Agathokleous Artistic director of Center of Performing Arts MITOS

minute

Where do you live?
In Limassol with the boys, Alexandros and Marios. My twelve-year-old twin sons.

What did you have for breakfast?
This is the season of pomegranates!

Describe your perfect day
Perfect is the day when time is not the enemy…

Best book ever read?
I would say best book lately is Women Who Run With The Wolves by Clarissa Pinkola Estes. The book shows how women’s vitality can be restored through what she calls “psychic archeological digs” into the ruins of the female unconsious, by using multicultural myths, fairy tales, folk tales and stories.

Best childhood memory?
Sitting on my grandmother Eleni’s bed and chatting with her, while she was preparing some food. A safe place.

What is always in your fridge?
Milk and wine. The milk is consumed, the wine very rarely.

What music are you listening to in the car at the moment?
Always the radio. The type of music depends on the time, duration of the car ride, destination, people in the car, mood of the people in the car, etc.

What’s your spirit animal?
I didn’t know that I should have one. I’ve just Googled it to find out more…

What are you most proud of?
The need to learn.

What movie scene has really stayed with you?
The Lovely Bones by Peter Jackson, the scene that the dead girl from ‘the in-between’ space had to recall her memories from her own murder, in order for the soul to be able to move on.

If you could pick anyone at all (alive or dead) to go out for the evening with, who would it be?
With the writer Margarita Karapanou. Not to go out, just an unformal meeting at her house. I would love to have the opportunity to read her, her own texts.

If you could time travel when/where would you go?
I would choose to visit invisibly my ancestors at the beginning of 20th century. Or to observe how great directors like Peter Brook worked during rehearsals.

What is your greatest fear?
At first, I thought is death but finally is regret.

What would you say to your 18-year-old self?
I have a lot to say to that young girl, but would she listen?

Name the one thing that would stop you dating someone
Characteristics of patriarchy

If the world is ending in 24 hours what would you do?
I would keep the same routine. For a final time.
