Coronavirus: 19 fines after 2,487 checks

One business and 18 individuals were booked for violating coronavirus measures after 2,487 checks in the government-controlled areas.

Most checks, 1,069, were carried out by officers in the capital who booked one person and one establishment, while seven people were booked after just 253 checks in Limassol and two people in Larnaca after 222 inspections in the district.

Five people were also fined in Famagusta after 388 checks and three in Paphos after 171 checks.

Police said that no violations were reported in Morphou after 157 checks.

Traffic, marine and port police also carried out 244 and three checks respectively, without any bookings.

Breaches of coronavirus measures include failure to wear a facemask and carry a SafePass among others.

The checks were carried out between 6am on Monday and 6am on Tuesday.
