More than 100 traffic fines issued in Paphos in October

The Paphos cycling police unit reported that during the month of October, it had handed out a total of 103 out-of-court fines.

According to a police statement, increased road safety and crime prevention measures carried out by the unit, included public assistance, additional security during President Nicos Anastasiades’ visit to the town, increased police presence at public events, and assistance to other police departments.

The unit also carried out vehicle inspection checks and visited car parks to prevent theft and malicious damage to vehicles. As a result, 62 arrests were made.

“In addition to that, the unit carried out checks in cafes, supermarkets, religious places of worship, and beaches to ensure that all measures issued to protect people from Covid-19 are being observed,” the statement said.

As part of their ongoing efforts, the Paphos cycling police unit is advising local businesses on security measures to combat crime. The unit has been distributing informative material in the town to inform both locals and visitors on what safety measures to adopt to avoid being burgled on the street.  Checks were also carried out in the neighbouring areas of Chlorakas and Yeroskipou.
