Limassol district court on Saturday remanded for seven days a 32-year-old man arrested the previous day in connection with the theft of guns and thousands of bullets from a licenced importer.

Earlier this week, authorities had located in Limassol a little over 15,000 bullets, which had been reported stolen from a cargo container last month.

The bullets were found on Wednesday in a metal box buried in a location in the Amathounda area of Limassol along with a loaded revolver and an air rifle.

The man reportedly admitted to being one of three involved in hiding the ammunition, with the other two still being sought.

Meanwhile a 26-year-old who was being sought for three other serious crimes in Limassol, was remanded for eight days after being found by police in Paphos on Thursday afternoon.

He is suspected of being the one who handed over the ammunition to the three others.
