Armed robber takes more than €4,000 from betting shop

Police were investigating on Monday after more than €4,000 was stolen at gunpoint from a betting shop.

The theft took place a few minutes before 11pm on Sunday when a hooded man with a gun entered the establishment, located on Stelios Kyriakides street in Limassol, and threatened the employee, asking for the money in the register.

After stealing €4,033, the suspect fled on foot.

Police arrived at the scene and started investigations.

The man, who spoke with a Cypriot accent, is described as 1.80m tall and stocky. He was wearing camouflage clothes and wore gloves.

According to police, the 35-year-old employee suffered shock after the incident and was taken toa private clinic as a precaution.
