Coronavirus: No deaths, 212 cases on Sunday (Updated)

In total 212 new Covid-19 cases were announced by the health ministry on Sunday.

No deaths were recorded.

The new cases were among 43,821 PCR and rapid tests with a positivity rate of 0.48 per cent.

The number of hospitalisations, however, has risen to 105, of whom 35 are in serious condition. Fifteen patients are intubated. In total 61.9 per cent of hospitalisations concern patients who are not vaccinated.

Seven cases were detected during contact tracing, four were among samples collected by public hospitals’ labs, two were people referred for testing by their doctors, 34 concern PCR tests taken privately and 76 rapid tests taken in pharmacies and private labs.

Three cases were passengers at the Larnaca and Paphos airports.

Another 86 were detected among the rapid tests carried out in all districts on behalf of the health ministry. These concern 43 in the Nicosia district out of 9,393 tests, 15 in Limassol (3,813), seven in Larnaca (2,781), 14 in Paphos (2,491) and seven in the Famagusta district (1,201).

The total number of cases so far is 130,100.

So far 590 deaths were recorded.
