Walking tour looks at Nicosia’s sustainability

Another week, another walking tour by the Home for Cooperation and the Association for Historical Dialogue and Research. Their city walks are now a monthly happening, each time inviting different personalities of the city, be it tour guides, researchers, historians and beyond, to share the many different perspectives and tales of Nicosia. The upcoming walking tour on December 18 will examine the city’s sustainability challenges and future vision.

Led by Myrto Skouroupathi of the Cyprus Energy Agency and Vijdan Şengör, the walk will identify the sustainability challenges faced both in the city and by the island in general. It will touch on the topics of mobility, energy, urban planning, waste, water and climate change, and how these affect our lives.

Held in English, the tour will explore the ways in which a sustainable city and island can be built and if a common vision can be created. Setting off from the Home for Cooperation at 10am, the two-and-a-half-hour tour will include both sides of the buffer zone, therefore, ID cards and a valid, printed negative test result based on each participant’s vaccination status will be needed for the crossings.
