Man arrested for insulting police officers

A 50-year-old man who was arrested late on Wednesday for public nuisance insulted and assaulted officers in Paphos, police said on Thursday.

According to a police spokesman, around 10pm, authorities received information about a man who was allegedly drunk and causing public nuisance in a specific area in Kato Paphos.

Officers arrived at the scene and when they tried to arrest him, the suspect started insulting the policemen and resisted by hitting one officer, the spokesman said.

The injured officer visited the accidents and emergency department of Paphos general hospital and after receiving first aid for a minor injury, he was released.
