Coronavirus: Charges filed in two cases involving breach of Covid rules

At the instruction of the attorney-general, police have filed charges in two separate cases relating to the pandemic, including threatening doctors over Covid vaccines.

In a statement on Thursday, the Legal Service said police files charged against a woman who sought to secure a SafePass using a fake vaccination certificate.

The second case concerns a complaint filed by the chairman and members of the paediatric society that they had received threats on social media in relation with the vaccination of children over 12.

Apart from threats, the suspects in the case were encouraging others to commit a crime.

The state has also charged a 53-year-old doctor for issuing fake vaccination certificates to people so that they could secure a SafePass

He was arrested in August after the family of a 41-year-old reported to police that he had been issued a fake vaccination certificate.

His father said he was informed that his son had confessed to medical and nursing staff at the hospital that he had obtained the fake document and that it was his son’s GP who had issued it.

After checks, it was found that the 41-year-old was registered in the Gesy system as having received the vaccine, which was administered by the suspect.

The nurse who heard from the 41-year-old he had not been vaccinated, told police she had asked him before intubation if he had received the jab.

The 41-year-old and another man who had been allegedly issued with a fake vaccination certificate have died.
