The consumer protection service on Friday fined a travel agency €50,000 for violating travel laws.

The company Love Island Travel & Tours Ltd received an administrative fine for violating a number of laws relating to organised holidays, the service said in a statement.

A probe into the company revealed that it had failed to take out insolvency protection for bookings between January and June 2020.

In addition, the company did not hand in on time some documents and information required by officials during the investigation, relating to the legislation on organised holidays.
