Health authorities said Friday they have detected 28 additional cases of the Omicron variant of the coronavirus.

In a statement, the ministry said 20 of those were primary and secondary contacts of the five Omicron cases initially detected after a school trip to Glasgow early this month.

The remainder concern people who travelled recently, the ministry said.

The 20 cases include 10 pupils, nine family members, and one teacher.

All 20 had been considered as possible Omicron infections last Friday and had been quarantined.

No on other information was immediately available regarding the other eight cases.
