A pop-up vaccination centre will operate at Meneou primary school on Wednesday for eligible residents of neighbouring villages, the health ministry said on Monday as it steps up efforts to boost Covid-19 vaccination coverage.

Special attention is being paid to booster jabs to reinforce immunity of population groups more vulnerable to heavy illness and hospitalisation, it said.

The pop-up centre was agreed after consultations between Health Minister Michalis Hadjipantelas and Dromolaxia-Meneou Mayor Kypros Andronicou.

It will operate from 10am to 4pm at the multi-purpose hall of Meneou primary school for residents of Dromolaxia-Meneou municipality and the communities of Tersephanou, Kiti and Pervolia.

Health ministry officials will be in the community to brief residents about the benefits of vaccination and to answer any queries and concerns.

The centre will be available only for the following population groups: first dose to people aged 18 or over who have not yet received a Covid jab; second dose to people aged 18 and over who have received the first dose of an mRNA vaccine (Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna) and the required interval for the second dose has passed; booster shots for people aged 18 and over who have received an mRNA vaccine, provided five months and two weeks from their second dose has passed and finally, people who have received the single-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine will receive a booster/second dose either of a Johnson & Johnson or mRNA vaccine.

Everyone must present an ID (ID, passport or alien’s registration card) and their vaccination card (where applicable).
