A 17-year-old girl is suspected of trying to break into the Peyia police station while officers were out on patrol Sunday evening.

According to police, after they returned from patrol they found the main gate damaged and broken glass.

After examining CCTV footage, they were able to identify the teen, they said.

Apparently earlier in the evening she had wandered by the police station in an intoxicated state and officers drover her home.

However it appears she went back later after realising her mobile phone was missing that she believed she dropped in the patrol car.

When she went back, the officers were not there so she tried to get into the station herself.

The teen was charged but the file will go to the attorney-general to see whether or not the prosecution will go ahead, CNA reported.
