Paphos police have arrested a 57-year-old man against whom a warrant had been issued pending investigations into a case of obstructing the course of justice, interference with court proceedings, threats and assault.

According to spokesman for Paphos police Michalis Ioannou, the suspect allegedly threatened a 75-year-old woman, who had reported him in connection with a case of theft of aluminium from her home.

The threat, according to the 75-year-old, was directed against her in order to force her to withdraw the case, which is before a court. The reported offence took place in February in Paphos.

The 57-year-old was arrested and detained, while police investigations continue.
