High concentrations of dust, over 20C on Wednesday

Vulnerable groups and people with respiratory issues are advised to stay indoors as high concentrations of dust microparticles at intervals, pose a great risk and are expected to persist through the day across the island.

The country is affected by a weakened high-pressure system and isolated light showers are expected over light to moderate northeasterly to southeasterly winds, force three to four, turning strong force four to five in southern and northern coastal regions, over slight seas.

Tuesday night is expected to be cold with northwesterly to northeasterly winds and moderate force three to four in the east, over calm to slight seas. Temperatures will drop to 6C inland, 10C in coastal regions and 5C over the mountains.

Wednesday will be mainly sunny throughout, with high cloud in the afternoon, and southwesterly to northwesterly winds, force three to four, over calm to slight seas.

Temperatures will rise to 22C inland and in coastal regions and 13C over the mountains.

Clear skies expected over the next three days, with temperatures steadily rising much higher than the seasonal average by Saturday.
