House committee hears fears over proper use of tachographs

Concerns about the proper implementation of legislation for the installation and use of tachographs, as well as installation of speed limitation devices on certain categories of vehicles, were raised during a meeting of the House transport committee on Thursday.

The committee discussed the need for legislation to control tachograph systems and speed switches on buses and trucks on motorways, as well as the monitoring of crews that install the tachograph.

Among other issues, the committee reviewed inspections of the mechanical condition of the vehicles, and licenses and documents required for drivers, including when they are found to exceed speed limits.

Furthermore, the committee requested clarification as to the regulation of installation crews, proper licensing of the installations, and calibration of the speed limitation devices.
