The geological survey department detected a 3.0 magnitude earthquake in the Limassol district on Monday evening, the seismological centre said.

Seismologist Sylvana Pilidou tweeted that the quake was recorded at 6.38 pm with an epicentre in the wider Gerasa area, 15 kilometres northwest of Limassol, and a depth of 2 kilometres.

Light tremors were felt across the Limassol district, she added.

In a written announcement, the seismological centre said it will be monitoring the phenomenon for further developments.
