Multinational Argonaftis drill returns after two years

Argonaftis (CM Archives)

The multinational civil-military exercise Argonaftis 2022, will take place between May 16 and 20, the defence ministry announced on Sunday.

Argonaftis is an annual sea, air and land drill. It has not taken place the past two years due to Covid.
It will involve the defence and foreign ministries, the JRCC search and rescue centre, and civil defence.

Countries taking part include Greece, the UK, France, Italy, the US and Israel.

This year’s scenario will involve the reception of civilians from neighbouring countries.

The first phase will be a table top exercise and the second phase will take place at Limassol port.

The third phase on May 20 will involve a mock maritime accident of the southern coast.
