In the framework of the European Artion Programme, members of Paphos Civil Defence on Sunday successfully carried out a search-and-rescue exercise for missing persons in the Mandria community of Paphos.

The purpose of the exercise was to evaluate the online platform and the application prepared by the Kios Research and Innovation Centre of the University of Cyprus for civil defence.

Through the platform, with the aid of the application installed on the correspondents’ phones, the coordination centre had two-way communication with them, monitored their positions on an electronic map, and received photos and videos.

The exercise was attended by over 30 members of the Department of Search and Rescue, members of the Department of Communications, as well as representatives from KIOS, the largest ICT research and innovation centre in Cyprus.
