Man dies in fatal traffic accident

Θανατηφόρα τροχαία σύγκρουση στη Δρομολοξιά

A 40-year-old man died in a traffic accident near the village of Dromolaxia, in the Larnaca district on Monday.

According to Larnaca police spokesperson Haris Hadjiyiasemi, victim Varnavas Georgiou, a resident of Aradippou, was behind the wheel of a rental at 9.45am when he lost control of the vehicle and ended up in in a ditch.

First indications imply he was not wearing a seat belt and was thrown from the vehicle during the crash.

An ambulance rushed to the scene to take the man to Larnaca general hospital but due to the severity of his injuries, doctors could not save his life.

Police are looking into what could have caused the driver to lose control of his vehicle.
