The deputy tourism ministry announced that €2m in funds are available for businesses in rural, mountainous and remote areas as part of the government’s aim to enhance authentic tourism.

The announcement on Wednesday detailed that the EU’s recovery and resilience plan is making the funds available.

Many businesses and producers will be able to apply for the funds, ranging from visitor centres, food producers and restaurants, local crafts and artists, and many others focused on traditional goods.

The funds also provide for minor renovation works at both private and public buildings, and open spaces.

The scope of the plan is to enrich and diversify authentic tourism products, with a keen eye on religious tourism, geology centres, rural activities, cycling, and many others.

The deputy ministry called on those interested to visit www.tourism.gov.cy under the ‘incentives and subsidies’ category.

Applications will be accepted until November 30 or until the funds are exhausted. Priority will be granted on a first come-first-served basis.

For further details, those interested can email [email protected] and [email protected] or call at 22691309 and 22691127.
