OUC gets ranked highly

The Open University of Cyprus and two of its professors have been ranked among the top universities and scientists by a leading academic research portal.

The Open University of Cyprus (OUC) is ranked in the 1st and 2nd national position, and the 434th and 643th position worldwide in the fields of Social Sciences & Humanities and Computer Science respectively in the latest Reseach.com rankings.

OUC Professors Michalinos Zembylas and Yannis Manolopoulos are also listed in the list of the top scientists in the abovementioned fields respectively.

The Rector of the Open University of Cyprus, Professor Petros Pashiardis, congratulated the two academics for this well-deserved recognition of the quality and productiveness of their research work acknowledged amongst their peers.

“The University also takes great pride in OUC’s national and worldwide rankings in the fields of Social Sciences & Humanities and Computer Science, and we aspire to build on these achievements,” he said.

He added that the international recognition of the scientific potential of the Open University of Cyprus and the research and publication impact of its renowned academics is yet another testament of the University’s growth in academic stature, especially in 2022 during which OUC celebrates 20 years since its establishment.

Professor Zembylas, whose main research interests focus on curriculum and pedagogy, social justice pedagogies, intercultural and peace education, and human rights education, is ranked 1st nationally and 310th worldwide with h-index=67 in the fields of Social Sciences and Humanities.

Professor Manolopoulos, with special research interest on data management, is ranked 1st nationally and is in the 1569th position worldwide in the field of Computer Science with h-index=60.
