Another extreme weather warning

Cyprus will continue to sizzle, with the met office issuing another extreme high temperature warning for Thursday.

The new yellow alert will be in force from midday to 5pm. Temperatures inland are expected to rise to around 40C, the met office said.

In its afternoon weather forecast issued on Wednesday, the met office said Thursday will be mainly fine with temperatures of 40C inland, around 35C on the south, east and north coasts, around 32C on the west coast and 31C in the mountains.

Friday, Saturday and Sunday will be mainly fine with the possibility of low cloud and patchy fog mainly on the coast at night and in the early morning.

Temperatures as from Friday are expected to edge down remaining close to or slightly above the seasonal average.

The maximum temperatures at 3pm on Wednesday ranged from 40C in Nicosia to 32C in Prodromos and Paphos airport. The maximum temperatures at Larnaca airport, Limassol, and Polis Chrysochous were 34C and in Frenaros 37C.

Humidity levels ranged from 23 per cent in Prodromos to 68 per cent in Paphos.
