Pile-up on Giolou-Stroumbi road results in serious injury

A seriously injured 55-year-old woman was taken to the Paphos general hospital after a traffic accident on the Giolou-Stroubi road, on Sunday afternoon. 

According to a police spokesperson, the accident occurred shortly after 4 pm on Sunday, when the vehicle driven by the woman with her 35-year-old son as a passenger, collided head-on with an oncoming car, driven by a 52-year-old man, with his 44-year-old wife as co-driver, and two children, aged nine and eight, as passengers.

The collision of the two vehicles, resulted in a pile-up with another vehicle driven by a 41-year-old. All seven occupants of the three vehicles, were taken to the A&E department of the Paphos general hospital.

According to the attending physician, the 55-year-old suffered a fractured neck and was kept for further treatment. Her condition is characterised as out of danger. The nine-year-old in the second vehicle was also kept for observation while the others were released.   

The exacts circumstances of the accident are being investigated.
