The north on Thursday denied a request from the Holy Metropolis of Constantia, Famagusta to hold a service at the church of the Holy Cross in Lefkoniko on September 10.

According to a statement on the metropolis’ social media, the request was made through the United Nations to celebrate day of the Holy Cross, which is held on September 14.

In a statement, following the denial of a service at the church in the north, the Lefkoniko municipality in the Republic, which represents the occupied village, said the service will be held at Ayia Thekla church in Larnaca.

A lunch after the service will be attended by Transport Minister Yiannis Karousos.
