Marine police to the rescue after mayday off Geroskipou

Maritime police transported an injured woman on board a boat sailing off Geroskipou to Paphos general hospital on Thursday after a call received by the joint search and rescue coordination centre (JRCC).

“Today at 13.51, Larnaca’s JRCC received a call from a boat sailing in the sea area of Geroskipou and near the coast, to provide medical assistance due to an injury,” according to an official statement.

No further details were provided as to the woman’s condition.

The search and rescue centre “immediately mobilised a speedboat from the port and marine police which picked up the injured person and transported her to Paphos harbour where she was transferred to an ambulance,” a statement said.

The injured woman was taken to Paphos general hospital for treatment.
