Registered unemployed in Cyprus increase in September

The number of registered unemployed in September 2022 increased compared to September last year, according to both actual and seasonally adjusted data, released on Wednesday by the Cyprus Statistical Service (Cystat).

According to the Statistical Service, based on data kept at the Provincial Labour Offices, the number of registered unemployed persons at the end of September 2022 was 11,610, compared to 11,324 persons at the end of September 2021.

Based on data corrected for seasonal variations, which show the trend of unemployment, the number of registered unemployed persons in September 2022 decreased to 13,220, compared to 13,754 in the previous month.

However, compared to September 2021, there was an increase of 286 persons or 2.5 per cent, attributed mainly to the sectors of financial and insurance activities (increase of 525), administrative and support activities (an increase of 104), information and communication (an increase of 74), construction (an increase of 63) and professional, scientific and technical activities (an increase of 56).
