Authorities investigate cause of small wildfire in Paphos on Friday night

A small area of thick, wild vegetation and dry grasses burnt in a fire that broke out on Friday evening on the borders of the community of Droushia in the Paphos district, in the area of “Monastirka”.

According to a statement from the Forestry Department, the fire broke out at 8.05pm.

The intervention of the forest firefighting forces was immediate, resulting in it being brought under control at 8.50pm, a statement said.

To extinguish the fire, four people from the Forestry Department with two fire engines and two firefighters from the Fire Brigade with one fire engine operated to extinguish the fire.

The exact causes of the fire are being investigated.
