Restoration and improvement works on Piale Pasha’s building facades have begun, Larnaca municipality announced on Tuesday.

The municipality said the scheduled facelift will improve residents’ quality of life and attract new visitors to the area.

“The restoration project will promote and highlight the traditional architecture and history of the area, which deserves special attention,” the municipality said.

“The entire area, with its distinctive architecture, is popular with both locals and tourists as it is directly connected to other popular areas such as Finikoudes and Mackenzie.”

The renovation of old buildings’ facades is co-financed by the European Maritime and Fisheries Fund (EMFF) in the framework of the Thalassa project and by the Larnaca municipality.

The total cost, which is set to be completed in 15 months, is estimated at €1,116,930 + VAT.

Building facades will be repaired and painted in tones based on the original architecture of the area. Extensive repairs will also be carried out to doors and windows.

The project will cover the area from Larnaca Castle to the point where Piale Pasha ends and Tasos Mitsopoulos avenue begins.
