A 24-year-old man was injured on Thursday night after being attacked by five people near Mackenzie, requiring brief hospital treatment.

The incident was reported by the victim’s 48-year-old mother who contacted the police at 8:50pm and informed the authorities that five unknown persons attacked her son.

Police arrived at the scene and later arranged for the young man to be taken to Larnaca general hospital by ambulance. He received treatment and was later discharged.

The authorities stated that the man was being followed along the Tasou Mitsopoulou avenue at around 8:20pm by a car. The 24-year-old then changed street but was attacked soon after by five people, with even the driver of the car getting involved.

The attackers then fled the scene by driving up a one-way street but lightly crashed into an oncoming car, with the group then abandoning the vehicle and fleeing on foot.

Police investigations are ongoing.
