An autopsy was carried out on Monday on a two-month old baby who died on Saturday night in Limassol.

The baby was found unconscious by his parents one hour after being put to sleep at 7pm. Then, the infant was transferred to a private clinic where, shortly afterwards, the child was pronounced dead.

Media reported the baby was found positive to Type A influenza virus.

On Monday, state pathologist Nicolas Charalambous received samples for the histopathological examinations which will reveal the exact cause of death, the Cyprus News Agency reported.

The infant did not show any external injuries according to the officers who went to the clinic for examinations.
