Two more private hospitals are set to start operating within the national health scheme Gesy in 2023, director of the Health Insurance Organisation (HIO) Andreas Papaconstantinou said on Tuesday.

Speaking to CyBC on Tuesday, Papaconstantinou said discussion with the Pancyprian Association of Private Hospitals are still ongoing, but that the parties are close to reaching an agreement on how the two hospitals will be compensated.

He also added that two rehabilitation centres in Limassol and Larnaca – the Eoka Fighters Memorial centre and the Eden Rehabilitation Centre – joined Gesy last week.

“We are also in touch with the management of the Platonas Medical Cente in Nicosia, as they have expressed interest in joining the national health scheme,” he added.

Finally, Papaconstantinou said there has been a delay in the arrival of new batches of pharmaceutical products in Cyprus in the past month, but that efforts are being made to solve the situation.
